Sacred bread from Banjica

A meander incised in the centre and surrounded by an inscription characterises this oval terracotta plaque. The inscription studded with sign of the Old European Script : chevrons, semicircles and parallel lines.
The emblematic plaque is 15 cm. long, was found in Banjica, near Belgrade (Republic of Serbia) and is 7,200-7,000 years old.
Is the plaque perhaps symbol of a sacred loaf of bread? asks Marija Gimbutas.
